The following applications are intended for the surface finishing using blasting media such as ceramic, stainless steel and glass beads:
- matting
- deburring
- compacting
- removing of annealing colour
- removing remnants of welding processes
- removing of surface contamination
Blasting achieves a homogenous, matt surface. This effect is required for surgical instruments in order to avoid unwanted reflections when using them under operating lights.
Shot peening increases the internal compressive stress of the component surface. This has a positive effect on the fatigue behaviour as well as the corrosion resistance.
The sandblasting units at innotool & greminger are exclusively used for surgical instruments made of stainless steel.
